British figure skater Danielle Harrison has finished the 2013/14 skating season ranked no.1 in the National Ice Skating Association’s (NISA) British Junior category for the highest points obtained in figure skating competitions. During the season Danielle Harrison was promoted to the GB performance squad, becoming the youngest member of the squad by three years.

Danielle, aged 14 and a pupil at the Everest Community Academy, currently trains 6 days a week and is based at Planet Ice Basingstoke. She said “I have been working very hard to try and improve, so it was nice finish in this position and also to achieve the level required to make the performance squad. I’d like to thank my coaches who give me so much help & support.“

Danielle is coached by Debi and Simon Briggs, and supported by Gary Peed, Peter Bækgaard, Andrew Smith and Lisa Beaumont. Simon Briggs, NISA Level 5 coach and one of the world's leading Technical Specialists, added "Danni is an extremely talented young athlete who is showing signs of progressing to the very highest levels. She is one of the most talented and committed skaters that I have seen in the UK for many years."

In early 2014 Danielle was invited by Torvill & Dean, to skate in Sarajevo in celebration gala to mark the 30th anniversary of their gold medal Olympic win. Danielle was the winner of the 2014 Junior Ladies category at the Basingstoke Sports Awards, a top 3 finalist in the Hampshire and IoW Sports Awards, and a top 3 finalist in the Basingstoke 'Place to be Proud' awards for sporting achievement.
